Maileg Australia - Whimsical Danish Toys

In a world where children as young as two or three are reaching for tablets and smartphones, many parents are searching for something different. Something that invites a child to slow down, to imagine, and to play in the oldest and most nourishing sense of the word.
Maileg — pronounced My-Lie — is that something.
Founded in 1999 by Danish designers Dorthe and Erik Mailil, the name Maileg combines their family name with leg, the Danish word for play. Dorthe’s passion for design began in childhood and was refined at the prestigious Danish Design School and L’école d’Art de Marseille and Paris, where the very first sketches for these beloved toys were born.
What emerged was a world unlike any other — one where matchboxes become beds for mice, where princesses make perfect teatime companions, and where cats and mice are the very best of friends.
