Sylvain the rabbit and his friend Nini the mouse decided to stop off for a rest at the Mangroves – one of their most favourite places in the world. As they sat there near the water they could smell the glorious scent of salt, and the breeze was so delightful, they decided to stay for lunch!
Sylvain thought that perhaps he might have a salad. ‘A salad today?’ said the cafe owner Mrs Pebble. ‘Very good – it is so IMPORTANT to make sure you have your greens every day (especially since you are a rabbit)!’ 
Nini decided that she would have the cheese souffle and they went and sat outside in a shady, sheltered spot. It was so LOVELY to see the chef, Jenny, again and to chat with passers-by.
Sylvain wanted some water, and asked Mrs Pebble if he could have some? She directed him to the glasses and bottles near the magazines. He took a long drink, as he was quite parched from all the exercise they had had that day! After that, it was not difficult to decide what to have for desert – a unanimous Carrot Sorbet all round.
They had been for a VERY long walk, up the hills, to see the sea. They wanted to go and fly their new kite that they had bought from the toy shop. It was so animated and colourful in the wind! They ran in circles and they ran in straight lines, all the time twisting and twirling the kite, but before long they realised that they were so very tired and so very HUNGRY.
It had been a lovely lunch – so delicious!! After such an active morning, Sylvain and Nini both felt that they had well and truly earned an afternoon nap. As they made their way home, arm in arm, they were joined by their best friend, Julius the dog. Julius had given up waiting for them and had come to see what had taken them so long. Julius was definitely ready for his nap!!!
